About

TRAVIS JAPAN are a 7 member group formed on July 9th 2012 from Johnny's Entertainment.

The original members where chosen by Travis Payne after overcoming his rigorous training for the PLAYZONE stage play.

The current lineup was officially revealed on November 19th 2017, during the Gulf Live (湾岸LIVE).

Since then, they've opened (and back-danced) for Austin Mahone's Japan Tour in 2019. They've also back-danced for Kis-my-ft2 "FREE HUGS" and "Yummy" tours and Hey!Say!JUMP's "Parade".
In 2020 each member held a solo concert online for Summer Paradise and their also held their concert, ENTER1234567 online.

They went back to doing in real life concerts in 2021, doing a new show of NINJAPAN and their own concert tour, IMAGE NATION, from which they live-streamed one date.

🐯 Why the name? 🐯

The name was originally formed by combining Travis + Japan.
Often shortened as "Traja" (Toraja /トラジャ) or TJ.

Nowadays they gave their name an additional meaning. Using the Japanese way of reading their name (toraja) and playing with the word "tora" (虎), meaning "tiger" in Japanese.

They're often referred as "tigers" or "tiger cubs" and each member also has an special role apart from also having their own member color.

Additionally, their introductory song is called "Unique Tigers" 🐯

Travis Japan is usually separated into two sub-units (but like, for fun), which are "Ichigo Milk" & "Triple Kaito".

They usually just separate into these two groups for concerts, but you can also see them on some youtube videos like this one.

Fun facts about Triple Kaito: apart from all three of them being called "Kaito" they're all born on 1997, went to the same school and were together in the same class.
As you might expect, just the teacher calling them "Kaito" was a mess.

Apart from Triple Kaito, you'll also hear about "Double Kaito", which usually just refers to Miyachika Kaito x Nakamura Kaito.
Miyachika Kaito x Matsukura Kaito is usually called "ChakaMachu".

The most popular pairings are probably ShimeShizu & MatsuMatsu. They're constantly mentioned during their youtube videos too.

ShimeShizu, Shimekake Ryuya x Yoshizawa Shizuya, besties since forever and often in charge of making choreos and/or fancalls (mostly Shime).
Shizuya likes expressing his love for Shime during the youtube videos and maybe even give him preferential treatment when making choreos?? Shizuya often gets jealous when Shime flirts with other members.
Here are some examples of "Icha icha sunna!" (Stop flirting you two!)

MatsuMatsu, Matsukura Kaito x Matsuda Genta, apart from being besties they're also twinsies. They usually enjoy going shopping together, Matsukura wants to actually go full-on twin style with Genta but Genta doesn't want him to buy & wear the same clothes as him (sad). Their minds work the same way in very twin-like fashion (no pun intended).
Here are some examples of "Yappari MatsuMatsu ka yo!" (As expected from MatsuMatsu)

There are obviously other member combinations but the ones mentioned above are, probably, the most popular ones.

Then, there's something I'll call the "Traja-fam", which is basically consist in every member having their own role as if they were role-playing a family.

The most notable roles are Noe-mama (Kawashima Noel) and Shizu-papa (Yoshizawa Shizuya).

The rest of the members are all the kids (often also referred as "kindergarten" even though, technically, this also includes practically the whole group) except Nakamura Kaito, who is well, the pet (he IS the "pet tiger" after all).

They also got a lot of inside jokes which have mostly started on either on their youtube channel or Island TV. I made a couple (long lol) videos compiling most of those which you can watch on youtube (and a lil twitter thread with them too).
